Blaise Dahl Joins Karen Irwin's 'Janis, Me & Bobby McGee' Stage Band on Bass

Karen Irwin is proud to bring her one woman show, 'Janis, Me, and Bobby McGee,' to actor Chris Noth's night club/music venue The Cutting Room for the show's New York City debut, following numerous sold-out shows across the United States. Irwin, the 2009 winner of the Midtown International Theatre Festival’s Outstanding Lead Actress award -- who seemingly comes by her authentic, bluesy, and emotional voice naturally-- describes herself as an "actor by trade, singer by accident."  The multi-talented performer wrote and produced the show as not just a musical tribute to the legendary Janis Joplin, but also as a powerful vehicle for storytelling. In 'Janis, Me, and Bobby McGee,’ Irwin weaves Janis' story with her own personal experiences, crafting a healing message of self-acceptance that leverages the raw power of Janis’s music to tell a universal story that celebrates life and individuality at its core.

Bassist Blaise Dahl of the Brooklyn indie band Dahl Haus -- who also possesses a powerful, blues influenced rock voice -- was more than happy to take a step back and support Irwin. "I've been a big Janis fan since I was 15 and singing with the School Of Rock AllStars. This Friday, Brock Turner, the so-call "Stanford Swimmer" rapist will exercise his white male privilege by being released from prison, after serving just 3 months on his appallingly light 6-month sentence. While Judge Persky, the judicial enabler who allowed this injustice to occur, will no longer be presiding over such cases, there is clearly still a need to shine a spotlight on rape culture. Blaise Dahl's MTV "Look Different" interviews (from #GRLCVLT's FVCK RAPE CULTURE event at Baby's All Right) with Law Professor Michele Dauber (from Recall Aaron Persky), and artist/activists Amber Tamblyn, Rose McGowan, and Kiran Gandhi a/k/a Madame Ghandi will be up later this week. Blaise Dahl Joins Opener Jennie Vee on the Manic Street Preachers 20th Anniversary The Holy Bible Tour

Blaise Dahl has joined the Jennie Vee band on bass and backup vocals for Vee’s supporting slot on the Manic Street Preachers 20th Anniversary Celebration Tour of their iconic ‘The Holy Bible’ album. These are the first North American tour dates for the Manic Street Preachers since 2009, and they will be playing the album in full. ‘The Holy Bible’ was the band’s last album to feature guitarist and lyricist Richey Edwards who disappeared five months after its release. His fragile mental state is reflected in the albums brash, unflinchingly bleak lyrics. The iconic 1994 record is widely regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time.

It's been a long-time coming, but we're finally heading into the studio to begin work on our first professional recordings. Happy to be spending today and tomorrow at Studio G in Williamsburg, working on the skeletons for our EP, 'Welcome to the Dahl Haus,' with Jeff Berner of Psychic TV behind the board. Want an aural peak at what's coming? Courtney Love's bassist took Dahl Haus to Berlin... sort of... and it was FIRE!

We missed our perenially sad boi & founder of Kasshugaze, Daniel Kasshu, on lead guitar last night, but Tom McCaffrey of Civillains did a rad job filling in for him. Thanks too, to Jennie Vee (Courtney Love's bassist, fashion icon, and Dream Pop Siren) for inviting us to open for her band in one of her last local shows before her UK tour. When Your Lead Singer is a Loser.... and Damn Proud Of It!

Blaise Dahl of Dahl Haus joined the Loser’s Lounge on stage at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater for their tribute to the legendary songwriters of NYC's Brill Building. She got to check a favorite song off her musical history bucket list, covering Smith's version of the Burt Bacharach/Mack David/Barney Williams classic first sung by The Shirelles, "Baby, It's You."

Always a crazy good time at DJ Mojo Presents at Bar Matchless shows. He brought the post-Halloween voodoo to our closing song in a big way... tossing an oversized, flashing eyed skull at our girl Blaise to end the evening. 

Adding to the magic was a special audience member. Big love for Brendan Brown of Wheatus for coming out to see us, and for his kind words. He not only walks the talk, he backs it up on social media. He left us feeling like so much more than Teenage Dirtbags. We still get tingly just thinking about it.

NYC's Pride Weekend Officially Launched at Hunter Valentine's Pre-Party Show at the Knitting Factory

Dahl Haus was honored to open for Hunter Valentine last night at their pre-Pride weekend show at the Knitting Factory. Killer vibes, insanely pumped crowd, and awesome, high-energy set from local NYC Progressive Alt Rock/Queercore beasts, BOYS. A lot of love beaming up from that audience and we could feel the heat on stage. Thanks so much for embracing us. If last night was any indication, this weekend's celebration is going to be one wild ride. So glad we got our ticket punched early. Happy Pride, y'all!

Blaise Dahl Plays Dress-up with Jennie Vee in Courtney Love's closet for New Music Video & Sneaks Into The Pages of NYLON

Blaise Dahl of Dahl Haus stepped out to make some magic with rising dream pop star Jennie Vee. Check her out in Jennie's new cover video for Echo and the Bunnymen's "Lips Like Sugar," which debuted yesterday in Nylon Magazine. The band was styled in Courtney Love's couture line, Never The Bride (Jennie's Courtney's touring bassist) and shot by Jennie's creative visuals partner, Katrin Albert. Blaise will be joining Jennie's band on bass and back-up vocals for a few dates, opening for the Manic Street Preachers 20th Anniversary Holy Bible Tour.
